Adobe Photoshop

• We accept all Adobe Photoshop files from both PC and Mac up to version 7.0 (some of these instructions may apply only to older versions)
• Vector based text is available in version 6 & 7, so take advantage of it and set up your file correctly to maintain the vector properties. See your manual for details. Black text should only contain C=0%, M=0%, Y=0%, K=100%
• Set page size plus any bleeds (1/8″ or 0.125” on each side) correctly
• Set resolution to 300 dpi
• Set color mode to CMYK
• Turn Anti-Aliased OFF
• If you use a solid black background, set the color for the black as follows: C=40%, M=40%, Y=20%, K=100%
• Flatten all Photoshop layers before saving artwork for submission (Layer>Flatten Image)
• We give you 3 options to save your file as: Photoshop .PSD, .EPS, or .TIF
• Each file format should not use any compression while saving, nor have any layers
• **NOTE: Each file format saved may result in different sizes, which will in turn affect the uploading process (PSD is usually the smallest file size, TIF & EPS being the larger file sizes)
• We prefer TIF and EPS, as they are the most problem free
• Versions 5.5 and older should save the file as a TIFF with LZW Compression turned off Example: If you’re creating a business card with bleeds in Photoshop, you need to begin your new file with the following settings:
• Create your document size to: 3.625” x 2.125” (includes bleeds) @ 300 dpi
• Your trim size will be 3.5” x 2”
• Keep any text at least 1/16” away from the trim edge
